2019 Toyota Prius V Spied

Since its original release, the Prius is first successful Toyota’s hybrid in the market. The Japanese automakers are on the verge of testing the next-generation Prius, and judging from the spy photos, the vehicle is expected to adopt a unique SUV form and replace the current model. This move is considered a step higher for high riding cars.

The new 2019 Toyota Prius V or Prius Plus in some market, features seem to be the redesign of last Prius but with crossover spirit. The flared wheel arches and longer ride length, however, hint a more SUV like the model. This is evident by the fact the engineers have designed its tail to be that of a Lexus NX.

The emblem of the hybrid Toyota and Lexus cars have been known to have a blue background color with stylish exterior design, and are also much effective in when it comes to aerodynamics.

Engine

It’s still unclear on the kind of powertrain being used but for the Prius, but it should be powered by a 1.8-liter hybrid. 2019 Toyota Prius Plus is expected to be more efficient than the older model. Combination of electric motor and gas engine should have more than 120 horsepowers. Furthermore, the crossover/hatch will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in less than 10 seconds, with the estimated maximum speed of 180 km per hour or 112 mph. The traction of the battery of the car is fully charged from a voltage ranging from 220 to 230 volts in a mere 1.5 hours. The 2019 Prius V is expected to consume no more than 4.2 l/100 km or 56 mpg combined, rumors are that will go over 60 mpg.

It is expected to have maybe another engine, the 2.5-liter options, with the electric motor. This powertrain is used in the current Camry models. Also, it is possible to get powertrain from next year Prius C, 1.5L ECVT Hybrid. However, that is unconfirmed.

Price and Release date

This new Prius V is expected to make unleashed in late 2018 (should be in the Fall) or early 2019 which means it should arrive at a 2019 model in the market. The price is yet to be made public but it’s probable that it might not cost more than its predecessor. 2019 Toyota Prius V price should be around $27.000 to $28.000.

Conclusion

Although the new Prius is expected to face major rivals like; Chevrolet Volt and Ford Fusion, the Japanese automakers have certainly worked at bringing the best from the previous Prius to distinguish the two.
