Toyota is bringing its new midsize pickup 2018 Toyota Tacoma in competition with vehicles like Honda Ridgeline, Chevrolet Colorado and GMC. The buyers will be surprised to know that the new Tacoma will offer 2 engine options to its buyers along with rear or four-wheel drive selection and these engines will be mated with 3 different transmissions, five and six-speed manual along with the six-speed automatic transmission. The truck is built to run smoothly on surfaces whether tamed or untamed plus due to its great towing capacity, it’s always been a good selling truck.

At this point of time, there is not much information available regarding the interior of the new Tacoma. However, the good news for Tacoma lovers is that the cabin of the new 2018 Tacoma is quieter than its predecessor. Engineers have especially paid attention to achieve this by adding silencer pad on floor and sound soaking headliners along with acoustic windshield. The level of convenience is increased with metallic accents and soft touch products. Customers will choose settings through Multi-terrain Select on their 4.2 inches multi-information colored screen.

Other information like mileage, tire pressure, and tune choices will also be displayed on the screen. Control panel is redesigned to keep knobs and button in reach of the passengers plus the Entune Premium JBL Audio with Incorporated Navigation and App Suite is also installed in the truck. The drivers can also record their off-road trips through a GoPro which is installed on their windscreen.

The new Tacoma is an excellent off-road truck with impressive styling and rigid body. High strength steel is utilized through hot stamping in making of its body which makes it light weighted and muscular at the same time. The suspension is also tweaked to get more response during off-road trips thus providing smooth driving experience. The new Toyota Tacoma 2018 has a wide hexagonal grille and chiseled fascia giving it a wider and athletic stance. The 2018 Toyota Tacoma is expected to maintain its engine lineup and come with 2 engine options. The first one-Atkinson-cycle engine is a 3.5-liter V6 option which is able to generate 278 horsepower @ 6000 rpm and 265 pounds-feet of torque @ 4600 rpm. Another engine is a four-cylinder 2.7-liter engine which develops 159 horsepower and a torque of 180 pounds-feet. The first engine will be mated with five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission whereas the later will come with the six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Both engines will offer rear wheel and all wheel drivetrain and with “one-touch” the driver can switch from one drivetrain to another. A heater, stainless steel exhaust system, alternator, starter and a heavy duty battery comes standard with these engines. The fuel economy is estimated to be 12.1 liters per 100 km in the city and 10.1 liters per 100 km on the highway.

Price and Release date

As with all above-mentioned changes, we can expect this new truck will use less fuel and cover more mileage with improvised handling. And this will increase the price a bit and the cost is anticipated to be likely 30 thousand dollars for the base model. This new 2018 variant is expected to hit the dealership by the end of 2017. With its off-road capability along with heavy payload capacity, the new Toyota Tacoma is definitely a solid packaged mid-size truck.
