Initially, there were stories that the Camry would be discontinued until just recently when a camouflaged car has seen testing. The car was wearing the Toyota Badge and from the look of things, the Toyota looked like the upcoming Camry.
Update: April 27, 2017
Toyota Camry has been ruling the US market as a bestselling vehicle since last 15 years and to continue this charisma Toyota has now launched the eighth generation of its mid-size sedan at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. From its architectural platform to its exterior and interior styling, the new 2018 Toyota Camry has received a new outlook and tremendous updated features. The new Japanese sedan is built on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) Platform, which provides better structure while using high strength steel. The 2018 Camry model will also be available in four trim levels, the Base LE trim, XLE, SE, and XSE.
The 2018 Camry has got more upscale and expressive look. The designers have made the roofline and hood lower by 1.2 and 1.6 inches respectively, which has let the occupants’ seating point 1 & 1.2 inches low from the front and rear section. The cabin feels more spacious with deeper dashboard, beltline, and cowl. Whereas the new model with 2 inches wheelbase is 0.7 inches wider than its predecessor. Both higher trims will get tinted smoky back combination lamps, mesh grille along with trunk lid lip spoiler, a diffuser, and a well-formed rocker panel. The XSE trim even gets the machined finish 19 inches aluminum wheels.
Toyota’s unique craftsmanship can be clearly seen in the interior styling of the new 2018 Toyota Camry. When you first open the door you will find a fine blend of superior features, advanced styling, and functionality. Redesigned front seats now provide comfort and support along with the ample head and legroom to the passengers. Special soft and premium material is utilized to upholster the seats, door trim, instrumental panel, dashboard and the center console. The newly designed dashboard is driver focused and a unique combination of color hues and tones not only provide the treat to the eyes but also enhances the cabin’s details. 2018 Toyota Camry Changes
From the spied model, the facelift of the new model won’t be that different from the current model. The front seems very similar where the future and the previous model both appear to have a similar grille and headlights design. However, the greenhouse will be larger with a lower beltline increasing the glass area. This is mainly meant to improve the visibility and give the car a unique look from the previous model. The 2018 Camry will be based on TNGA platform. This is the first time Camry is making use of this platform. The platform is using lightweight materials which will generally help reduce the overall weight of the car which will consequently lead to the reduction in the amount of fuel consumed.
Unlike the current version, this sedan is believed to be slightly larger hence offer more passenger space. The rear bumper is definitely larger than the 2016 Camry, camouflage didn’t hide that enough. The boot-lip spoiler also looks different while the C-pillar of this car looks slim, unlike the current model. Finally, the new Camry will have a 360-degree camera like in some SUV models.
As for the 2018 Toyota Camry interior, the cabin should look luxurious and more attractive than the previous model. We are also expecting it to be equipped with some of the latest technologies. Unfortunately, we are still not certain which specific features will be available. Update soon.
New Toyota Camry 2018 Engine
According to Toyota, the new sedan will ride on the TNGA-C platform. This platform is the newest version of Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). Therefore, what they have done is that they have adjusted the engine to fit this new design. Based on these facts, we can now make the assumption that the car will use a 2.5-liter Dual VVT-i-4-cylider engine. When it comes to power, 2018 Toyota Camry is capable of pulling about 175 ponies. We also do believe that there will also be the other option with VV-iW which can produce 232 hp(estimated) just like what you can find on Lexus NX(turbocharged 2.0-liter). We can also assume that this car will use a hybrid engine.
The other rumor is the transmission. We heard that the Toyota 2018 will get only automatic transmission, with 8-speed(no news about manual). This will be replacing the 6-speed transmission. It is just unfortunate that there is no official confirmation about the engine specs.
