2018 Lexus GS Review


The midsized Sedan Lexus GS is going to get an update. The new 2018 Lexus GS is famous for its smooth handling and power mixed with luxury, the new model is expected to continue this legacy. It is ready to conquer the market with the following variants GS 300, GS 350 and GS 450h. The GS F Sports package can be availed on each model. Each model will be having different engines under their hood, so the customer can choose one according to his demand.

2018 Lexus GS Redesign, Exterior

Being in the category of midsize vehicle, the new 2018 GS still possesses great looks. The outer surface has some definite lines giving it a strong presence. It also features a spindle grille and newly designed tripled beam LED headlights. The sedan is 192.1 (193.5 sport) inches long, 72.4 (72.6 sport) inches wide and 57.3 (56.7 sport) inches tall with a wheelbase of 112.2 inches. The GS 300 will be available with 17-in nine-spoke alloy wheels housed by 235/50R17 tires. Whereas the 2018 Lexus GS 350 and GS 450h will have 18-in five-spoke alloy wheels with 235/45R18 tires. The F sport package customers will get 19×9 inches rear (with 265/35R19 tires) and 19×8 inches front (with 235/40R19) 5 spoke split alloy wheels. Curb weight is 3,805 lb. for GS 300 and increases up to 4,034 lb. for GS F models.

Engine

As mentioned above each model of the new GS will come with the different powertrain. So, the 2018 Lexus GS GS 300 will be available with a 2.0-liter turbo four engine which is able to generate 241 horsepower and a torque of 258 pounds-feet. From 0-60 mpg this engine runs for 7.0 sec. The GS 350 will have a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which can generate 311 horsepower and 280 pounds-feet of torque. From 0-60 mpg it goes for a 5.7 sec and AWD for 5.8. The GS F package will come with V8 5.0 liter engine which produces a massive output of 467 horsepower and 289 pounds-feet torque. This monster goes from 0-60 mph for only 4.5 sec and the top speed of 168 mph(on track).

The hybrid variant 2018 Lexus GS 450h is pairing a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with a nickel hydride battery pack and a 147-kilowatt electric motor which generate 338 horsepower output. Hybrid accelerate from 0-60 mph for 5.6 sec. It is mated with Continuous Variable Transmission.

All the remaining models are available on R the ar Wheel Drive System and paired up with eight-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy is 29/34 mpg city/highway. The GS 350 is the only one which will be available with the all-wheel-drive system and six-speed automatic transmission/paddle shift for sport. The GS 300 gives a fuel economy of 22/32 mpg city/highway, whereas the fuel economy of GS350 and GS F is rated at 20/28 mpg and 16/24 mpg respectively. Fuel tank capacity for all trims is 17.4 gal.

Price and Release date

The new Lexus GS will be available to its customers by the end of 2017. Starting price of each of the variants of Lexus luxury sedan are mentioned below:
• GS 300, 46,310 dollars
• GS 350, 50, 695 dollars and GS 350 AWD 50,365 dollars
• GS 450h, 63,635 dollars
• whereas the 2018 Lexus GS F Sports package starts from 50,900 dollars for the base model GS 300 F Sport and increases with each variant GS 350 F Sport – $52,060 / AWD $53,805, and GS 450h F Sport – $68,680.
