The exterior design of the recently developed model will be so attractive, and we can clearly say that this model will be quite striking. The newly model will, of course, share the Toyota New Global Architecture platform of the previous Prius. So, as we say, this model is striking, and it will have very good aerodynamics. We can expect some unique styling elements as well. When it comes to dimensions, this model will have a length of 4,645 mm, a width of 1,760 mm and a height of 1,470 mm. As you can notice, the second generation of Prius Plug-in Hybrid will be bigger for 20 mm in each side, compared to the first generation.

Also, this model will have front and rear overhangs lengthened by 25 mm and 80 mm compared to the latest generation of standard Prius model. Thanks to the powerful evolution of design themes (Toyota’s Under Priority and Keen Look), the upcoming model will have instantly recognizable three-dimensional acrylic grille as well as very thin ultra-compact 4-LED headlights. Also, compared to the standard Prius, the front side of this one is different, and we can clearly say more aggressive. The projection of the grille will be emphasized by the nicely designed and also highly aerodynamic bumper sides. This model will also provide LED turn indicators and Daytime Running Lights.

The profile side of this model, besides its longer rear overhang and also rear spoiler heights and lower cowl, can be also identified by PHV-specific two-tone aluminum wheels that will be 15-inches large. The interior design of the future 2017 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid will be similar to the previous latest Prius model. More precisely, the new model will share the dashboard design with the mentioned model. We can expect clear, structural arrangement of the dash. The new model will provide a large, 8″ infotainment display that will have updated graphics. Also, the same refreshed PHV graphics display we can expect with the dual 4.2″ TFT screen. When it comes to some other design details inside, this model will share the front seats with the standard Prius. We can anticipate improved seat cushion in order to reduce driving fatigue. Engine and Performance

This model will provide new generation of Toyota’s advanced PHV technology. This new technology will offer full hybrid powertrain that will be more sophisticated, as well as all-electric EV driving experience that will provide double the range compared to the previous generation. What is fundamental for the more than doubled EV range of the new model is a lithium-ion battery located under the rear load space. The 2017 Prius battery capacity is increased by 50%, from 4.4 to 8.8 kWh. However, the volume of the battery has increased by 2/3 and it will be only twice heavier than its predecessor. Thanks to the Dual Motor Drive System, the EV power of this model will be also increased by 83%.
When it comes to battery charging, the maximum charging power will be increased by 1.3 kW (from 2 to 3.3 kW). For the full charge, you will need 120 minutes if you use Type II Mennekes connector or 190 minutes if you use regular household power.
This model will provide a choice of 4 Powertrain Modes including Battery Charge Mode, EV City, EV Mode and HV mode.
